Asics is a globally operating Japanese sports footwear and apparel brand that was founded in 1949 in KÅbebe, Japan by Kihachiro Onitsuka under the name Onitsuka Tiger. Today, Asics is the fifth largest brand in the sports footwear market with branches all over the world. The trademark of Asics are the so-called tiger stripes and the ∂ in front of the Asics lettering. Asics offers running, indoor, walking, tennis, fitness, handball, soccer and children's shoes as well as clothing lines. Sub-brands of Asics are Onitsuka Tiger and Asics Tiger.
